Janis Joplin

I couldn't get enough of Janis Joplin during my teen years, and remember reading about how she shot up at some party in a kitchen in Cincinnati and thought it was cool. Maybe I read it in Buried Alive. Now I grieve she was a heroin addict, knowing the pain and misery that goes with it and leads to it.

Vision of the Kingdom of God

If I may, as God is my Witness and Judge, when I was only 17 years young, God UNEXPECTEDLY gave me a VISION while I was in prayer. I was within that vision as a glorified Spirit-Being, whiter than glistening snow and like a brilliant white cloud with the sun shining on it, appearing smooth, dressed in a white robe - even my hair was that brilliant white - holding a Book in my hands and teaching two flesh and blood mortals who were sitting on the ground, in an outdoor setting like a park or meadow.)

I wanted to see the Grand Canyon for my 40th birthday, so Dave Nolan and I flew to Las Vegas and then drove to the Grand Canyon. We also went to Tijuana, Mexico. I thanked God for letting me live long enough to see it and now, this year, 2010, I've gone back and seen the Grand Canyon again!

My Country 'Tis of Thee

"My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrims' pride!
From ev'ry mountainside,
Let freedom ring!"
-- Samuel Francis Smith
(1808-1895) Baptist minister, journalist, author
Source: America, first stanza of song also known as My Country 'Tis of Thee

Morbid but mature

Yesterday I prearranged my cremation and found it morbid but mature. Why leave it for others to do?
