Desert and Rain

Dinosaur National Monument Path

Here I was used to being alone, on my own
Then we came together in a stream in the desert
Walking among wild flowers and rocks
Being with you brought that home

Under the sun you were my rain
Here I was used to being alone
And then out of nowhere you came
I am the desert, you are the rain

All these feelings blossomed, I thought I'd forgotten
All the wonders of companionship lost
With you was found
I am the desert, you are the rain

We came together in an eddy of time
And now I'll never be the same
Being in the moment doesn't last too long
Afraid to lose the moment, as life goes on

But I'm living in the moment with you
Again and again, replaying everything in my mind
A million times
Walking among wild flowers and rocks

I don't want to go on, I don't want this to end
How it seems so cruel, bittersweet, brought to life and withered again
Why can't it last forever, why can't we still be together
Walking and talking and soaking it in?

I am the desert, you are the rain
I was so used to being alone, being with you brought that home
Now my tears fall like rain, tell me can you feel my pain?
Now my tears fall like rain, tell me do you remember my name?

Being in the moment doesn't last too long
Afraid to lose the moment, as life goes on
Like sand it slips away, beyond our grasp
Like life nothing lasts

But I'm living in the moment with you
Again and again, replaying everything in my mind
A million times
Walking among wild flowers and rocks

Under the sun you were my rain
Here I was used to being alone
And then out of nowhere you came
I am the desert, you are the rain...
